Basic Crochet Workshops
A gentle introduction to crochet, from zero to confident first stitches
These welcoming Basic Crochet Workshops are designed for complete beginners and those returning to crochet after a long break. Working at a slow, thoughtful pace, we’ll focus on building strong foundations while enjoying the calming, rhythmic nature of crochet.
We’ll begin with the very basics: how to hold your hook and yarn comfortably, how to find the right tension, and how to recognise your stitches. From there, you’ll learn essential crochet stitches such as chain, double crochet, and treble crochet, all explained clearly and practised step by step.
Crochet is a skill that takes time, patience, and repetition. Just like learning to write, swim, or ride a bike, your hands and eyes need time to learn new movements and that’s perfectly normal. These sessions are designed to support you wherever you are on your crochet journey, whether your achievement is holding the yarn for the first time or completing your first row of stitches.
You’re welcome to start a simple first project (such as a small square or scarf) or simply focus on practising stitches and gaining confidence.
